After being up 2-0 in their volleyball match against St. Albert, the Cyclones dropped the next three sets by scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 15-13, with the final point of the night from Sophomore Molly Wise who knocked the ball over the net, which was deflected off Sophomore Cyclone Emercyn Reischl handing the Cyclones its second loss of the night.

After a dominant 49-7 victory over the Perry Bluejays Friday night at home, the Cyclones will head out on the road and turn their attention to the Nevada Cubs in a contest that may determine a playoff berth for HCHS.
The Cubs come in with a 5-1 record with their most recent victory coming Friday night against the Knoxville Panthers where they won 49-0.

Tuesday night, in set five of their volleyball match, AHSTW Senior Lauren Yates knocked a shot over the net that effectively secured the victory 15-13 and won their 7th match of the season beating the Underwood Eagles.

For the first time in a decade, the Perry Bluejays will make an appearance at Merrill Field taking on the HCHS Cyclones Friday night during homecoming.

Cyclone Junior Lindsey Sonderman continues to dominate the sport of running with yet another first place finish of 18:55.90 at the Harlan Invitational, just five seconds ahead of Junior Charlotte Gregor from Omaha South who finished with 19:00.64.

Any number of old-time football sayings would have described Friday night’s battle in Creston between the HCHS Cyclones and Panthers. Fighting uphill the entire night, the Cyclones faced deficits of 8-0, 15-0, 22-7, and 22-14, but still managed to come back to tie the game at 22 late in the fourth quarter, only to see the Panthers win the game 25-22 on a field goal with 2:44 left on the clock.

It has been a bumpy road as of late for the IKM-Manning volleyball team with their eighth consecutive loss coming Thursday night at home against the Audubon Wheelers, losing three straight sets, 25-10, 25-23, and 25-13.

Tuesday night during set five of its volleyball match to the Missouri Valley Lady Reds, the AHSTW Vikings were handed its sixth loss in its previous seven matches. Lady Reds Senior Henley Arbaugh served the ball in the backcourt, which deflected off Vikings Junior Grayson Gettler out of bounds for the final point of the night, 15-8.

After coming off an impressive 42-6 victory over the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors, the Cyclones will head to Creston Friday to take on the undefeated Panthers team, which is coming off a dominant 50-21 win over the Carroll Tigers.
“It’s always interesting going down to Creston,” said Cyclone Head Coach Todd Bladt. “We’re excited for the opportunity. It’s two good football teams that are going to meet up.”

The Cyclones struck early Friday night against Sergeant Bluff on a 17-yard touchdown run by Senior running back Noah Schmitz with just over a minute played. The Cyclones cruised to a 42-6 victory.

Thursday’s volleyball match between the Exira-EHK Spartans and the Woodbine Tigers started off in a back-and-forth affair, but the Tigers ultimately came away with the victory winning sets four and five 25-12 and 15-9 to earn its fifth win of the season and hand the Spartans its fifth loss.

It took five sets to dictate the winner of Tuesday’s volleyball game, but the Logan-Magnolia Panthers came out victorious over the AHSTW Vikings, winning three of five.
The Panthers took set one 25-20, the Vikings won sets two and three, 25-15 and 15-13, but the Panthers won the final two sets, 25-21 and 15-9.

The AHSTW Vikings, IKM-Manning Wolves, and Exira-EHK Spartans had multiple runners compete strong at the Avoca Golf & Country Club Tuesday afternoon including six runners finishing in the top 20 on the girls side and four runners finishing in the top 25 on the boys side.

For the second week in a row, the HCHS football team will be at Merrill Field hosting the 1-2 Sergeant Bluff-Luton Warriors.

In the fourth quarter with three seconds to go and the game tied at 14, Junior kicker Nolan Schwery kicked a game winning field goal and the Cyclones bench rushed the field and jumped on Schwery’s back, giving the Cyclones their second win of the season and handing Glenwood its first loss.
