Sr. Charlita Foxhoven

Sr. Charlita Foxhoven, SSSF, who devoted her religious life to accepting and financial leadership for her congregation, died June 9, 2026 at Sacred Heart in Milwaukee. She was 94.
Born Sept. 26, 1931 in Earling, she professed final vows with the School Sisters of St. Francis on June 21, 1965.

Roger Schwieso

Roger Duane Schwieso was born on September 1, 1935, to Wilbur and Lena (Christensen) Schwieso in Manilla, Iowa. He was one of five children and attended country school in Nishnabotna Township before graduating from Manilla High School with the Class of 1954.

Ralph Franklin Paul, Jr.

Ralph “Frank” Franklin Paul, Jr. was born to Genevieve (Branstiter) and Ralph Franklin Paul on September 5, 1943, in Washington Township, Harrison County, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm southeast of Persia and attended Shelby-Tennant High School, graduating with the Class of 1962.

Olin Meade Pash

Olin Meade Pash was born on May 29, 1927 to Harvey R. and Mamie E. (Field) Pash in Lock Springs, Missouri. He was the youngest of 15 children. While he was an infant, the family moved to Shelby County, Iowa. In 1962 he was baptized and joined Bethel Baptist Church where he was a member until 2005 when he joined First Baptist Church in Harlan.

Edward McLaughlin

Edward Thomas McLaughlin, son of John and Margaret (Gessert) McLaughlin was born on April 8, 1944, in Walnut, Iowa. He was baptized, confirmed and raised in the Catholic Faith. He graduated from Walnut Community School with the class of 1962.

Ramona Case

Ramona Case visitation with family will be held on Wed,.July 8, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m., with a Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m., all at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thurs., July 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Manning by Rev. Shane Deman.  Sacred Heart Choir and Anne Muhlbauer, Organist will provide the music.

Ronald Dean Heese

Ron was born on September 27, 1946, in Harlan, Iowa, and grew up attending Country School before graduating from Irwin-Kirkman High School. From a young age, Ron learned the value of hard work­ - something that stayed with him throughout his life.

Darlene Mae Arnold

Darlene Mae Arnold was born in Avoca, Iowa on Thursday the 19th of May 1938 to Harvey and Pearl Irene (Cunningham) Nelsen.  She was welcomed home to a farm south of Shelby in Pleasant Township of Pottawattamie County, the baby sister to older brothers, Melvin and Norman, now both deceased. 

Clarence ‘Sonny’ Leslie Busch

Clarence ‘Sonny’ Leslie Busch was born on October 20, 1930 in Omaha, Nebraska to Clarence ‘Ted’ and Florence (Alter) Busch. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 18, 2026 surrounded by family. On June 14, 1936, he received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God. He was later confirmed into the faith of our Savior Jesus Christ. Sonny was the youngest of 2 children.

Edward Joseph Goeser

Edward Joseph Goeser, the oldest of ten children of Bruno and Mildred (Weiland) Goeser, was born on August 20, 1930 at Defiance, Iowa. He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School and enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing with siblings and many friends.

Raymond “Ray” Pitsch

Raymond Nickolis Pitsch, son of John and Mary (Hein) Pitsch, was born on April 8, 1934.  He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Portsmouth. After graduation he helped on his family’s farm until he was called to serve in the United States Army on May 15, 1957.  Ray served overseas until his honorable discharge on May 6, 1959.

Leah Jave Coley

Leah Jave Coley, 83, of Madrid, Iowa, passed away on February 27, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
Leah was born on September 17, 1941, in Harlan, Iowa, to Samuel Hervey and Jessie Sorenson.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charley Coley; her sister, Addie Outhouse; her brother, Dean Hervey; and her stepdaughter, Susan Coley.

Dillon Michael Wood

Dillon Michael Wood, son of Herbert “Runk” and Jodi Nelson Wood, was born on June 12, 1995, in Atlantic, Iowa. He grew up alongside his younger brother, Dalton, and attended Walnut schools and eventually graduating from AHSTW High School with the Class of 2013.

Catherine May Kalal

Catherine “Cathy” May Kalal, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, in Olathe, Kansas.
Born on May 10, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Cathy dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. She will be remembered for her compassion, generosity, unwavering faith, and devotion to her family.

Mary Jane Gubbels

Mary Jane Gubbels was born on October 15, 1948, to Merrill Sr. and Marie (Erlbacher) Stolz in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up in Defiance, Iowa where she was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic School.
On August 5, 1967, Mary Jane was united in marriage to Cletus Gubbels at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Amy and Julia.

Phyllis Sue Miller

Phyllis Sue (Petersen) Miller of Audubon, Iowa, was born at home on May 9, 1927, to Kie Magnus and Ina Gertrude (Kemp) Petersen in Jacksonville, Iowa, the oldest of four children. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 18, 2026, surrounded by family in her own home.
