Bonita “Bonnie” Agnes Jacobs

Bonita Agnes Kimmen was born to Lawrence and Hilda (Schumacher) Kimmen on March 25, 1936, in Defiance, Iowa. As a child, she was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. She attended country school for a few years before transferring to St. Paul’s Catholic School in Defiance where she graduated with the class of 1954.

James “Jim” Joseph Dotzler

 Jim Joseph Dotzler was born to Donald and Janet (Buckhaus) Dotzler on June 16, 1965, in Harlan, Iowa. As a child, he was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance, Iowa. He attended Harlan Community High School, graduating with the Class of 1984. Following high school, Jim attended Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business in 1988.

Lea Ann VandenBoogaard

Lea Ann (Hill) Vanden Boogaard, 67, of Harlan, Iowa, passed away on June 7, 2026. Born on April 30, 1959, Lea lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, creativity, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.

Arlene M. Warner

Arlene Marie Warner was born on November 5, 1929, in rural Harlan, Iowa, to Lawrence and Margaret (Andersen) Andersen. She attended school in Harlan and graduated with the Class of 1947. On August 19, 1949, she was united in marriage to Darwin Dale Warner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan.

Paul Stewart Peterson

Paul Stewart Peterson was born on December 6, 1934, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Clarence and Violet (Erickson) Peterson. He achieved the age of 91 years, 6 months and 1 day.

Francis “Frank” Rueschenberg

Francis “Frank” Rueschenberg, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 63.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 6th at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia. Friends may greet the family for visitation on Friday, June 5th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

Delbert Andrew Bruck

Delbert Andrew Bruck was born to Mary (Bissen) and Tony Bruck on May 25, 1937, in Earling, Iowa. He attended school at St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Earling, where he graduated with the class of 1956. He served in the Army after graduating from high school and then in the Army Reserves.

Mildred “Mick” Goeser

Mildred “Mick” Elizabeth Goeser, daughter of Joseph Theodore and Olga Ann (Zimmerman) Goeser, was born on August 10, 1933, in Panama, Iowa.  She was baptized at St. Mary’s Church in Panama and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Westphalia, where she remained a life-long member.  She attended St. Boniface School in Westphalia.

Gordon Laverne Wigness

Gordon Laverne Wigness, 80, passed away under hospice care on June 26, 2026. Services and burial will be held at a later date.
Gordon was born on August 26, 1945, in Harlan, Iowa, to Clifford and Frances (Thogersen) Wigness. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan and graduated with the Harlan High School Class of 1963.

Vera Raasch

Vera Ruth Raasch was born on January 11, 1927, the daughter of Roscoe and Lillian (Matthiessen) Buck in Walnut, Iowa. She was one of eleven children in the family. She graduated from Shelby Consolidated School in Shelby, Iowa, and the University of Nebraska Omaha, receiving a B.S. Degree in Education. Her teaching career extended over 33 years, and she taught in Elk Horn and Harlan schools until her retirement on June 1, 1990.

Monte Broeckelman

Monte L. Broeckelman, 55, passed away surrounded by his family on June 1, 2026, at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, Iowa, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Monte was born on August 9, 1970, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Wayne and Joan (Lamb) Broeckelman. He was raised on the family farm west of Esbon, Kansas, where he developed the strong work ethic, integrity, and values that would guide him throughout his life.

Karma Sorensen

Funeral Services were held for Karma Sorensen at 3  p.m. on Sun., June 7 at Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn, Iowa by Rev. Laura Webb.  Nancy Watson was organist.  Casket Bearers were Granddaughters.  Burial at the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery, Elk Horn.

Sally Irene Nairn

Sally Irene Nairn was born in Sioux City, Iowa on December 21, 1946 to Howard Glen and Anna Irene (Herbold) Michaelsen. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in rural Correctionville, Iowa. Sally lived her childhood and early adult years in Pierson, Iowa. She attended Pierson Consolidated School. Her high school years were spent at Kingsley-Pierson Community High School where she graduated with the class of 1965.

Eugene Juhl

Eugene P. Juhl was born on February 9, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa, to Walter and Violet (Paulsen) Juhl. Eugene spent his entire life on the family farm near Irwin. He began his education at Polk Township Country School, located across the road from his home. When a teacher could not be secured for the country school, he continued his education in Irwin. Eugene graduated from Irwin-Kirkman High School with the Class of 1958.

Delores Mae Nordby

Delores Mae (Petersen) Nordby was born in Marne, IA on May 20, 1933 to Clinton and Carrie Petersen.
Delores and her brother Bud were raised in Jacksonville, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She attended country school at Jackson #6 and graduated from Harlan High School. Delores worked at the Harlan Telephone Office during her high school years.
