    AVOCA -- William Chandler LeRette, 84, Avoca, died December 17 at ahis home.    Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 28 at 10:30 a.m. at St.

    WALNUT -- Dewey Linden, 91, Walnut, died December 20 at Peace Haven Retirement Home.    Services were held Monday, Dec. 27 at 10 a.m.

    ELK HORN -- Henry John Jones III, 90, Elk Horn, died at his home December 16.    Services were held Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m.

    OMAHA, NE -- Della Newlin, 83, Omaha, NE, formerly of Harlan and a long-time Harlan Community Schools teacher, died November 24 in Omaha.    Newlin is survived by three sisters and four children: David Newlin of Austin Texas, Dixie Peterson (Todd) of Ankeny Iowa, Dee Newlin of West Des Moines Iowa, and Dan Newlin of Seminole, Florida; three grandchildren: Logan Peterson, Taylor Peterson and Morgan Newlin.    A Graveside Service for family

    HARLAN -- Ray Erwin McIntosh, 92, Harlan, died December 17 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Irwin with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery at Irwin.  Visitation is Wednesday from noon-2 p.m.

    SEBASTIAN, FL -- Debra Lynn Martin, 71, Sebastian, FL, died December 12 at her home.    A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.    Martin is survived by sisters Tookie Smith of Sebastian and Marlyce Schraeder of Denison; and brothers Jeff (Loretta) Rademacker of Lincoln, NE and Jason Eckermann of Harlan.

    OMAHA -- Kenneth Leonard Hoffmann, 78, Omaha, NE, formerly of Harlan, died Sunday, Dec. 12 in Bellevue, NE.    Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m.

    MINDEN -- Joseph Roman Zimmerman, 82, Minden, died December 9 at his home.    Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Neola with burial in the St. Boniface Cemetery in Westphalia.  A rosary will be held Friday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m.

    GRISWOLD -- Lester Edwin Hass, 95, Griswold, formerly of Harlan, died Friday, Dec. 10 in Atlantic.    Services are pending at Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan.    Hass is survived by his daughter, Linda (Jim) Fisher of Dayton, TX; grandchildren Amber Roth, Mandy Edwards, Eric Edwards and Scott Edwards; other relatives and friends.

    AVOCA -- Larry Allen Engel, 76, Avoca, died December 4.    Engel is survived by s his wife Cheryl, his daughter Sheila (Ron) Zornes, his son Doug (Julie) Engel all of Avoca, IA. 5 Grandchildren – Stephanie (Neil) Poldberg, Dean Zornes, Dylan Zornes, Tayler (Josh) Engel, Dustin (Trenna) Engel. 6 great-grandkids.

    OAKLAND -- Ronald Newcomb, 80, Oakland, died December 8 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home.    Services were held Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan.    There are no survivors.    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan was in charge of arrangements. 

    WALNUT -- Howard Beaman, Jr., 88, Walnut, died December 9 at Myrtue Medical Center.    Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Magnolia Cemetery in Magnolia.  Visitation is Tuesday, Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Bruce Alan Waddell, 64, Harlan, died December 7 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center.    Visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 13 from 5-7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.    Waddell is survived by his wife, Brenda, of Harlan; daughters Ashley (Randy) Mether of Harlan and Farren (Nathan) Johnson of Malcom; and sister Carolyn (Dean) Finken of Atlantic.
