On Friday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team played against the Clarinda Cardinals and lost by 28 strokes.
“We struggled today to keep the ball in play on an unfamiliar course,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Chad Swanson. “Some of the holes at Clarinda require playing to specific distances and specific targets and those are areas we just are not very good at yet.”

On Friday night, the HCHS girls varsity soccer team matched up well against the Atlantic Trojans, defeating them by a final of 1-0.
“We knew coming in this was going to be a tough battle and an evenly matched game and it ended up that way,” said HCHS Head Soccer Coach Jared Boysen. “Both defenses were strong and I felt our defense did a great job holding one of the top scorers in our conference, Jada Jensen from scoring.”

Friday night, the HCHS boys varsity soccer team battled the Atlantic Trojans on the road and were victorious 5-0. With this victory, it moves their overall record to 5-7.

Zophi Hendricks, a current senior at HCHS has just signed a Letter of Intent to go play volleyball for Des Moines Area Community College.
“Definitely a lot of emotions being sent around,” Hendricks said. “I’m definitely sad to be leaving Harlan, but it’s going to be a great experience going to DMACC and keep playing volleyball.”

On Tuesday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team took on the Atlantic Trojans and lost to them by nine strokes.
“Jace Gubbels made a big putt on hole three and had several good up and downs to save par or bogey on his way to a runner-up medal,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Chad Swanson.
Swanson also highlighted other players on the roster who continue to stand out.

On Tuesday, the HCHS boys varsity tennis team battled the Denison-Schleswig Monarchs and lost 9-0. Despite not winning any overall matches, a few players on the roster got some individual game wins, including one player who got his first individual game win.

On Tuesday night, the HCHS girls varsity track and field team competed in the Lady Red Relays event at Missouri Valley High School. The Cyclones finished in second place for a total of 109 points, finishing 30 behind the Treynor Cardinals.

On Tuesday, The HCHS boys varsity track and field team competed in the Wildcat Relays at Carlisle High School and took home fifth place with a total of 73 points. Head coach Sam Brummer was very proud of how his boys competed.

On Tuesday night, the IKM-Manning girls varsity track and field team had a strong finish at the Bob Clark Relays with a total of 86 points.
“Overall, we tied with Audubon for third and had some really good finishes,” said Emma Konkler.
Konkler highlighted areas that her girls stood out throughout the course of the event.

It was a windy day at the Harlan Golf and Country Club, however that didn’t stop the HCHS boys varsity golf team from coming out strong as they defeated Kuemper Catholic by three strokes Monday night.
“Jace Gubbels, Braydon Ernst, and Alex Bladt did a good job managing the course and weather today,” said HCHS Head Coach Chad Swanson. “Sam Bladt came through with a solid scoring round as well.”

On Monday night, the HCHS girls varsity tennis team battled the Atlantic Trojans in fierce winds, and were victorious by a final score of 7-2.
“I am so proud of the girls and their play tonight,” said HCHS Head Coach Katie Arentson. “The girls came out strong and didn't let up.  I can see their confidence growing as we accumulate more wins, and it is just really fun to watch.”

After losing their previous match to the Lewis Central Titans, 10-0, the HCHS girls varsity soccer team turned the tables and won over the East Sac County Raiders by a final of 10-0 Monday night.
“Good to rebound tonight,” said Head Coach Jared Boysen. “We had a lot of different people step up.”

It was a rough day for the Harlan soccer girls as they dropped their game to the Lewis Central Titans 10-0. Head coach Jared Boysen spoke on what he was proud of despite such a tough loss.
“We did a decent job for a while of staying on their feet and not giving them many open looks but they were just too strong and had multiple good scoring opportunities,” Boysen said.

It was a windy night at Merrill Field for the Harlan soccer boys as they cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Tri-Center Trojans. Many boys on the team had a goal, but none more than sophomore Ian Shelton who had three.
“He did a fantastic job,” said Head Soccer Coach Dave Voge. “A lot of times, he will be off-sides, which we really don’t mind that, but this time even with the wind the way it was, he timed his runs really well.”

It was a windy day up at Majestic Hills Golf Course as the Harlan boys battled multiple teams at the Monarch Invitational.
“The wind was blowing between 30-35 mph with gusts over 45 mph at Majestic Hills golf course all day long,” said Head Golf Coach Chad Swanson. “No players in the entire tournament broke 80, which tells you have tough conditions were that day.”
