AVOCA -- Gerrit Feekes, 90, Avoca, died January 9 at Avoca Specialty Care.    Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 at 2:30 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with burial in the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca. Family will greet friends Saturday from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

    PORTSMOUTH -- Brad “House” Allan Knauss, 41, Portsmouth, died January 7 at University of Nebraska Medical Center.    Services will be held Friday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with inurnment at a later date.  Family met friends Thursday, Jan. 11 from 5-7 p.m.

    SHENANDOAH -- Ronald Dale Steinkuehler, 74, Shenandoah, formerly of Harlan, died January 7 at Avoca Specialty Care.    Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 13 at 11 a.m.

    HARLAN -- Talena F. Andersen, 93, Harlan, died Monday, Jan. 8 in Harlan.    Services were held Thursday, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.    Andersen is survived by sons Arthur C.

    AVOCA -- Margaret Marilyn Hanson, 78, Avoca, died January 6 at her home.    Services are pending at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca and will be held at a later date.    Hanson is survived by her husband, Milton Hanson, of Avoca; daughters Rena (Roger) Shaw of Coon Rapids and Rita (David Cummings) Hanson of Sacramento, CA; son Dana (Heather) Hanson of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

    HARLAN -- Merle Bettcher, 80, Harlan, died January 5 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 11 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial at a later date.  Visitation is Tuesday from 9-11 a.m.

    EARLING -- Mary Louise Schimerowski, 85, Earling, died January 5 at Crawford County Memorial Hospital.    Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with burial in the St. Joseph’s Cemetery at Earling.  A wake service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the church.  Family will greet friends Tuesday from 5-7 p.m.

    KIRKMAN -- Eugene Jakie Larsen, 85, Kirkman, died January 4 at his home.    Services were held Monday, Jan. 8 at 10:30 a.m.

    ROCK SPRINGS, WY - Lynn Edward Laver (an Irwin native), 66, Rock Springs, WY, passed away December 17, 2017 at his home after a sudden illness.    He was born November 1, 1951 in Harlan, the son of Ralph and Vera Cutler Laver.    He married Norma Pittson September 9, 1989 in Rock Springs.    Survivors include his wife Norma Laver; sons Trace Laver and wife Alisa, Troy Laver and wife Mandi; daughter Traci Stewart and husband Russ; brothers

    HARLAN -- Muriel Lucille Bacon, 99, Harlan, died December 31 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services are pending at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.    Bacon is survived by daughter Marjorie (Robert Grim) Muller of Danielsville, PA; son Michael (Barbara) Muller of Harlan; stepson Max (Wendy) Bacon of Sedona, AZ; stepdaughter Valli (Scott) Jensen of Hot Springs National Park, AR; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
