Donald Matthiessen, 87, Sterling, IL, died Friday, Feb. 3 at Regency Care in Sterling.    Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, IL.  Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17 at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church Cemetery in Elk Horn.  Visitation will be Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Elmer Wageman, 92, Harlan, died February 3 at Myrtue Medical Center.    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance with burial in the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Defiance.  A wake service will be held Friday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation is Friday, Feb. 24 from 5-8 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Christian Frederick Johannsen, 46, Harlan, died February 2 at Myrtue Medical Center.    Services were held Monday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m.

    HARLAN -- John L. Watts, Jr., 55, Harlan, died Wednesday, Jan. 25 in Harlan.    Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Edward G. John, 94, Harlan, died Sunday, Jan. 29 in Harlan.    Services will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at 2 p.m. at Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Friends were asked to call Thursday, Feb. 2 from 2-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4-6 p.m.

    BRECKENDRIDGE, MN -- Bernice A. (Olsen) Ericksen Hooge, 93, Breckenridge, MN, formerly of Council Bluffs, died January 25 at CHI St.

    HAMLIN -- Michel Charles Carter, 57, Hamlin, died January 26 at Audubon County Hospital.    Services were held Monday, Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m.

    HARLAN -- Services are pending for Edward John, 94, Harlan, at the Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan.    John died Sunday, Jan. 29 in Harlan.    He is survived by his wife, Donnabelle John, of Harlan, and daughter Deborah John of Timnath, CO. 

    COUNCIL BLUFFS -- Todd Randall Kay, 57, Council Bluffs, died January 23 at Creighton University Medical Center.    Graveside services will be held at a later date.    Kay is survived by mother Judy (Leslie) Knight of El Dorado Springs, MO; father Leonard (Celine) Kay of Council Bluffs; son Russell Kay of Omaha, NE; and daughter Melyssa Kay of Omaha.    Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements. 

    HARLAN -- Theodore Lambert Rietveld, 77, Harlan, died January 26 at Myrtue Medical Center.    No services are planned.    Rietveld is survived by daughters Carolyn “Carrie” (Rollyn) Lee of Amery, WI; sons Christopher (Joanne) Rietveld of Northfield, MN, Charles (Cori) Rietveld of Mellen, WI, Andrew (Tricia) Rietveld of Harlan, Matthew (Tammy) Rietveld of Piedmont, OK, Jerry (Margie) Rietveld of Nennah, WI, and John Rietveld of Combined Loc

    HARLAN -- Betty Lou Andersen, 94, Harlan, died January 21.    Services will be held Friday, Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.    Andersen is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Lou Kokes, of Papillion, NE; and son, Craig Andersen, of Branson, MO.

    HARLAN -- Services are pending for John Watts, Jr., 55, Harlan, at Burmeister-Johannsen Funeral Home in Harlan.    Watts died Wednesday, Jan. 25 in Harlan.  He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and son, Andrew, both of Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Dolores Carmelite Kaufman, 91, Harlan, died January 21 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services were held Monday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the St.
