HARLAN -- Vern Renze of Harlan will turn 100 years old on June 29, 2021. Vern was a Fuller Brush salesman for 45 years in Harlan and surrounding communities.  After he retired, he learned to play the harmonica and it became his retirement hobby. Vern’s children are Lloyd and Joy Renze; Karen Hunter; and Michael and Josie Renze.

    DOW CITY -- Mrs Lavern (Estelle) Leinen of Dow City observed her 99th birthday on April 16. She celebrated her 99th birthday in her home with family.    Her children include Philip, Larry, Mary (Jostes), Vincent, Joan (Gould) and Dolores (Shaw).    Estelle is the oldest resident of Dow City. She is one of the last remaining U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. veterans from World War II.

    ELK HORN -- Roland “Rollie” Hansen of Elk Horn will celebrate his 85th birthday at an open house on Sunday, April 25 from 1:30 - 3 p.m. at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church (downstairs dining room). Friends and relatives are invited to attend.

    RURAL JACKSONVILLE -- Edward and Vickie Andersen of rural Jacksonville will mark their 50th wedding anniversary on April 17.

    OMAHA -- Camilla Ahrenholtz and Scott Buchanan both of Omaha will marry on April 24 in a ceremony at the Field Club of Omaha.    Parents of the couple are Mary Ahrenholtz, Harlan; Clark Ahrenholtz, Elk Horn; and Doug and Dawn Buchanan, Omaha.    Camilla is a 2007 graduate of Harlan Community High School. She is employed as a counselor at Lifegate Church.    Scott is a 2005 graduate of Burke High School.

    HARLAN -- Joyce Nielsen of Harlan will mark her 90th birthday on April 10. She will celebrate with a family dinner on her birthday.     ANKENY -- Emily Murtha and Bradley Brue, both of Ankeny, will exchange marriage vows on April 17 in Ankeny.    Parents of the couple are Greg and Beth Murtha, Marshalltown; and Bob and Patty Brue, Harlan.    Emily is a 2014 graduate of Marshalltown Community High School and a 2018 graduate of the University of Northern Iowa where she was awarded a bachelors degree in business administration and gerontology.

    OMAHA -- Paige Hansen and Andrew Boldt, both of Omaha, exchanged marriage vows on February 27, 2021 at A View on State in Omaha. The 5 p.m. double ring outdoor ceremony was performed by Jodi Wendt.    Parents of the bride are Joey and Jennifer Hansen, Harlan. Parents of the groom are Jared and Jennifer Boldt, Gretna, NE; and Michelle Pagliuca, Elkhorn, NE.    The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father, Joey Hansen.

    HARLAN -- Les Blum of Harlan will celebrate his 80th birthday on April 5. His family is planning a card shower in his honor.

    PANAMA -- The family of Alfred Wingert is requesting a card shower in honor of his 80th birthday on March 13. Cards will reach him if sent to P.O.     HARLAN -- Elizabeth Fields and Austin Euchner both of Omaha exchanged marriage vows at the Harlan Golf and Country Club on September 26, 2020. The bride’s godfather, Brian Ortner, performed the 4 p.m.
