The HCHS Cyclones girls wrestling team hosted a quad Monday which featured Carroll, Kuemper Catholic, and Denison.
It was also Senior Night as Secilia Kurtz, Katie Namanny, Emma Christensen, Paige Wilwerding, Kyrsten Madden, and Addison Obrecht were honored by the school.

 HARLAN — CDS Global, Incorporated has announced the closing of the Harlan location in early 2025. The Harlan facility of the subscription fulfillment company based in Des Moines employs 94 workers, according to the Iowa WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) website. The job losses will take effect February 3, 2025. The decision to close the Harlan location was announced November 26. CDS Global is part of the Hearst Corp.

The HCHS Cyclones boys wrestling team earned a fourth place finish with 148.5 Saturday at the Dan Hill Invite in Harlan. Logan-Magnolia won the event with 248 points.
Senior Cyclone Jesse Jens achieved two milestones earning his 100th career victory and 50th career pin.

Early into Friday’s home game, the AHSTW Vikings started off matching the Underwood Eagles shot-for-shot and point-for-point, but the Eagles soon soared over the Vikings, flying away with the game en route to a 75-46 victory.

In the first quarter of Friday’s game with the AHSTW Vikings girls basketball team trailing 5-2, Sophomore Viking Bella Lamp made a shot from 3-point range tying the game at five, but following Lamp’s shot, the Eagles offense erupted going on an 18-0 that went into the second quarter en route to a 54-19 win, handing the Vikings their second loss.

Friday night, the HCHS Cyclones boys basketball team opened up their season coming away victorious over the Shenandoah Mustangs, 58-55.
“Shenandoah improved a lot last year,” said Cyclone Head Coach Mitch Osborn. “They have a really good ball club, especially on their home floor. The young kids are good. It was definitely a very tough game.”

After losing their first two games, the HCHS Cyclones girls basketball team was able to squeeze out a win in close fashion, 66-62 to Shenandoah Friday night on the road.
“It was one of those games where it wasn’t a blowout and you had to manage the game,” said Cyclone Head Coach Zach Klaassen. “We were down here and there. Nobody panicked. Everybody stayed calm and just played basketball. It was a fun night for us.”

The HCHS girls wrestling team came away with a fifth place finish overall Thursday night at the Treynor Invite with 62 points, 114 points behind the winner, Clarinda with 176.
