HCHS Cyclones Aubrey Schwieso, Grace Albertsen, Molly Swensen, and Kenzley Bruck were all named to the Hawkeye Ten All Conference list. Schwieso and Albertsen made first team, Swensen got second team, and Bruck received honorable mention.
“It was pretty surprising to me I didn’t really play much varsity my first three years,” Albertsen said. “Then I got first team all conference my senior year. It was pretty cool.”

The IKM-Manning Wolves boys track and field team is back at practice preparing for a new track and field season.

HCHS Senior Weston Reisz has committed to continue his education and baseball career at Doane University in Crete, NE.
“It’s a great feeling,” Reisz said. “It’s been a lifelong dream, and I just can’t wait to get started.”
He said he was impressed with Coach Josh Oltman and his staff had to offer.
“It’s a program I wanted to be a part of,” he said.
Reisz credited his HCHS coaches, Heath Stein and Dillon Sears.

 SHELBY COUNTY — Representatives from Summit Carbon Solutions were in attendance at the Shelby County Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday, March 4, to update the Board and take questions on the proposed carbon capture pipeline project. Kylie Lange, Iowa Pipeline Manager for Summit was accompanied by company spokesman Riley Gibson.

HARLAN — The Harlan Community School District has hired Dean Mosher to replace longtime  boys basketball coach Mitch Osborn.“There was talk the last couple of years about who would follow Coach Osborn and when the time came,” Mosher said. “Especially this year, it was talked about more and more.

HARLAN — A 36-year-old man was shot and killed during an armed standoff with law enforcement in Harlan early Thursday morning.According to a press release from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 4:30 a.m. Thursday, March 6 , deputies responded to a residence near College Place and Pine Street for a welfare check.
