Alexis Collins Martin

Council Bluffs - Alexis Nichole Collins was born on January 13, 1994, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jacob Collins and Lynnette Hunt. She was raised in Elk Horn, Iowa where she attended school and later graduated in 2012. From a young age, Alexis was full of life and energy. She was outgoing, adventurous, and had a contagious spirit that drew people to her.

Marlin Petersen

Omaha - Marlin Leslie Petersen was born on April 18, 1957, the son of Melvin L. and Evelyn M. (Michaelsen) Petersen at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was raised on the farm near Redline. He attended Irwin Kirkman Community Schools and graduated with the class of 1975. Marlin was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Jacksonville.From a young age, Marlin had lambs and calves on the family farm.

Jane Fabian

Atlantic - Jane Ellen Doonan, born April 24th, 1946, to parents Gaylord L. and Loretta J. (Abel) Doonan in Atlantic, Iowa. She passed away peacefully at Cass Health on March 8th, 2025, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and family. Jane graduated from Harlan Community High School. The day after graduation, she took a train to Washington D.C. to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

John “Jack” Leuck

Pekin, Il - John Francis “Jack” Leuck, 86, of Pekin, Illinois passed away on March 8, 2025. Jack was born in January 1939 at home on the family farm in Harlan, Iowa to the late John and Leona (Nilan) Leuck.He married Joan (Petersen) on February 10, 1962 and they were married for 58 wonderful years as Jack would tell everyone. She preceded him in death on November 25, 2020.

Virginia Klein

Dunlap - Virginia Claire Klein, 89, died on Monday, March 3, 2025, at her home outside of Dunlap. She was born on September 15, 1935, on the family farm northwest of Dunlap, Iowa to Thomas and Catherine (Murphy) Hanigan. She was the youngest of six children. Virginia went to country school #9 until her First Communion. When she was about eight years of age, the family moved east of Dunlap and she attended St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Naomi Christensen

Council Bluffs - Celebration of Life for Naomi Christensen, 90 of Council Bluffs, IA, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Charles E. and Florence M. Lakin Community Center in Malvern. Burial will be in Malvern Cemetery. Visitation at the Lakin Center will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Brian E. Tolle

Ogden - Brian E. Tolle, 68, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone, Iowa.A memorial service for Brian will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at the Church of Christ in Jefferson, Iowa, with visitation beginning at 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.  Matt Glawe will officiate.  Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden has been entrusted with arrangements.

Kathleen Christensen

Columbus NE - Kathleen Christensen, 96, died Sunday, March 2, at Cottonwood House in Columbus, Nebraska.Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, at Highland Park Church in Columbus. Cyclones look to serve opponents this season

The HCHS Cyclones tennis team is returning from a season where they boys finished 0-21 and the girls finished 5-19. Nevertheless, the team is excited to get back on the court and begin the season.
“I’m so excited to get the season going,” said Senior Emily Lee. “I have a feeling it’s going to be a good season.”

Cyclones compete at Iowa State Meet

With just 17 athletes, the HCHS girls track and field team managed to put up some strong numbers in their first meet of the season.
“We had a great first meet of the season,” said Cyclone Head Coach Jenny Hamilton. “For this meet, you have to qualify based on official marks from last year.”
