MANILLA -- Funeral services for Bernice Barrett, 98, Manilla, formerly of Irwin, will be Saturday, Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Irwin with burial at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin.    Friends may call after 10 a.m. on Aug. 17 at the church until the time of the funeral.    Barrett died Friday, July 12 at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home.    Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of arrangements.
 

    PAPILLION, NE -- Delores Mary Monahan, 80, Papillion, NE, died July 13 at Midlands Hospital.    Services were held Thursday, July 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St.

    PORTSMOUTH -- Delores Monahan, 80, formerly of Portsmouth, died Saturday, July 13 at Midlands Hospital in Papillion, NE.    Services are pending at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

    HARLAN -- Alan “Skip” Carlsen, 81, Harlan, died July 13 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Thursday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan with burial at a later date.  Family will greet friends Wednesday, July 17 from 5-7 p.m.

    EARLING -- Gary Lee “Bandit” Gubbels, 59, Earling, died July 9 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services will be held Monday, July 15 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling with burial at a later date.  A wake services will be held Sunday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Family will greet friends Sunday from 4-7 p.m.

    AVOCA -- JoAnn Mildred Lees, 78, Avoca, died July 6 at Oakland Manor Nursing Home.    Services were held Thursday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m.

    HARLAN -- Helen Miller, 85, Harlan, died July 8 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services were held Wednesday, July 10 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St.

    WEST CHESTERFIELD, VA -- Jerald John Christensen, 79, West Chesterfield, VA, formerly of Harlan, died May 5 at the Golden Living Center in Petersburg, VA.    Christensen is survived by his wife, Connie; son Jarrod (Amy) Christensen; granddaughter Hailey and grandsons Connor and Daniel, all of West Chesterfield; brothers David L. Christensen of Harlan and Robert Christensen of Manning.    No services are planned. 

Wilma Darlene Eggerss, 70, Harlan, died July 2 at Elm Crest Assisted Living.    Services were held Monday, July 8 at 11 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Avoca with burial in the Graceland Cemetery at Avoca.  Public visitation was held Monday from 9-11 a.m.

Michael Scott Kerr, son of Donald and Helyn (Hoss) Kerr, was born Oct. 5, 1944 in Jefferson. He passed away at Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn July 2, 2019 at the age of 74.

Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Kimballton.         Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2 from 3-8 p.m.

    HARLAN -- Dale Hemminger, 71, Harlan, died Tuesday, June 25.  Services are pending at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.

    IRWIN -- George Henry Steenhusen, 85, Irwin, died June 24 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Friday, June 28 at 11 a.m. at Church of Christ in Irwin with burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Irwin.  A prayer service was held Thursday, June 27 at 7 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.  Visitation was Thursday from 3-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.

Genevieve was born on January 16, 1924 to William and Catherine (Schechinger) Gaul in Earling. On February 10, 1948, Vernon and Genevieve united in marriage.
On May 30, 2019, Gen passed away at the age of 95. A 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Dan Gehler on Monday, June 3, 2019 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance. Pauley Jones Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
