Viking wrestlers hit 20-win mark

 AVOCA -- Eight AHSTW wrestlers finished 3-0 here Tuesday night as the Vikings dominated a home quad meet with wins over West Central Valley (56-21), Southwest Valley (81-0) and Audubon (54-15). The Vikings improved their overall dual record to 20-6. Individual highlights for AHSTW included 170-pounder Tim Barr pinning all three of his opponents in the first period.

IKM-Manning girls fall short against Treynor, 55-49

    HARLAN -- Kenneth Alvin Kuster, 91, Harlan, died January 19 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 23 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation is Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Larry Patten, 74

    HARLAN -- Larry Allen Patten, 74, Harlan, died January 14 in Tavares, FL.    Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 22 from 5-7 p.m.

Arlene Reinig, 92

    HARLAN -- Arlene Ann Reinig, 92, Harlan, died January 18 at Elm Crest Retirement Community.    Services will be held Friday, Jan. 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth with burial in the St. Mary’s Cemetery at Portsmouth.  A rosary was held Thursday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. at the church.  Visitation was Thursday from noon-4 p.m. at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, and from 5-8 p.m.

Rhonda Wendt, 57

    WOODBINE -- Rhonda Lee Wendt, 57, Woodbine, died January 16 at Rose Vista Home, Inc.    Services were held Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Portsmouth with burial in the Harlan Cemetery.    Wendt is survived by her husband, Larry Wendt, Sr. of Portsmouth; sons Larry (Jill) Wendt, Jr.

Emma McLaughlin, 99

    SHELBY -- Emma Caroline McLaughlin, 99, Shelby, died January 17 at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan.    Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.

    PANAMA -- Alice Kwapiszeski of Panama will celebrate her 95th birthday with an open house on Sunday, January 24 from 1-4 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Parish Center in Panama.
