 NEVADA (Sept. 25) -- The Harlan Community volleyball team finished with two wins and four losses at Saturday’s Nevada Tournament. HCHS scored 2-0 victories against Carlisle and Ballard while losing to Norwalk (0-2), West Marshall (1-2), Carroll (0-2) and Bondurant-Farrar (0-2). The Cyclones now stand at 12-13 overall.

 AVOCA (Sept. 24) -- AHSTW handed Riverside its first loss of the season in impressive fashion Friday night, building a 33-12 halftime lead and putting away the 4th-ranked Bulldogs 47-12 to snap a three-game losing streak. The Vikings improved to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in Class A, District 7. Riverside dropped to 4-1 and 3-1, respectively. AHSTW will look to start a winning streak this Friday night at Sidney.

 MANNING (Sept. 24) -- The IKM-Manning football team earned a key win toward possible playoff qualifying down the road here Friday night, scoring the final 10 points of its Homecoming game to defeat Tri-Center 16-6. The Wolves improved to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in Class A, District 8.

 ELK HORN (Sept. 21) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton volleyball team finished with a decisive win in set four to beat Ar-We-Va 25-13, 20-25, 25-20, 25-14 in Rolling Valley Conference action Tuesday night. The Spartans improved to 4-8 overall and 1-1 in the RVC. Ar-We-Va dropped to 2-11 and 2-3, respectively. Exira-EHK also competed in the ACGC Tournament at Guthrie Center on Saturday, Sept. 18.

 MOUNT AYR (Sept. 17) -- AHSTW suffered its third straight loss in Class A, District 7 last Friday night, falling to Mount Ayr 25-6 despite gaining 341 total yards on offense. The Vikings are now 1-3 overall and 0-3 in District 7 going into their September 24 home game against Riverside.

 MISSOURI VALLEY (Sept. 17) -- The IKM-Manning football team built a 28-0 halftime lead and continued to pull away in the second half on Friday, defeating Missouri Valley 49-8 for its second road win of the season. The Wolves used a balanced running and passing attack to rack up 367 total yards while forcing five Big Red turnovers defensively. IKM-M improved to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in Class A, District 8.

 EXIRA (Sept. 17) -- Gavin Smith scored four rushing touchdowns and passed for two more here Friday night, leading the third-ranked Audubon Wheelers to a 56-7 win over Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton. The 8-Player, District 10 matchup saw Audubon build a 28-0 lead by the 4:25 mark of the second quarter and score 28 unanswered points in the second half.
