ELK HORN - Helen Marie Roenfeld, 95, died Tuesday, December 23 at the Salem Lutheran Home, Elk Horn.    Visitation will be Thursday, December 26 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church.    Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.    Funeral services are Friday, December 27 at 11:30 a.m.

    TUCSON, AZ -- Word has been received of the death of June Richards, 101, Tucson, AZ, formerly of Harlan, who died Wednesday, Dec.

    ELK HORN -- Lucille Winther, 98, Elk Horn, died December 15 at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn.    Services were held Friday, Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton with burial following in the Elk Horn Lutheran Cemetery in Elk Horn.    Winther is survived by sister-in-law Esther Bivians of Hemet, CA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.    Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

    AVOCA-- Gene Sornsen of Avoca will celebrate his 90th birthday at an open house hosted by his family on Saturday, January 4, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. at the Avoca CountryView Golf and Grille (1701 N. Willow Street) in Avoca.

    HARLAN -- J. Roger and Annette Wilson of Harlan will mark their 45th wedding anniversary on December 21. They celebrated their anniversary with a trip to Branson, MO, and Florida.    Their family includes daughters, Elicia and Justin Cox; and Elizabeth Wilson.
 

    LOGAN -- Elizabeth Joy Marie Mether and Jamison William Rae Harrison both of Missouri Valley will exchange marriage vows on January 3, 2020 in a ceremony at the Logan Community Center.    Elizabeth is the daughter of Jerry and Bev McCreary, Harlan; and Richard and Tammi Mether, Moorhead. Jamison is the son of Jeff and Jamie Harrison, Persia.
 

    MANCHESTER, NH -- Jennifer Craighead and Frank Farrington were married on August 10, 2019 in a 4 p.m. ceremony at Candida Wood Pavilion in Manchester, NH.    Parents of the couple are Ann Knott Craighead, Wilkesboro, NC; and Craig and Patricia Farrington, Methuen, MA.
 

    HARLAN -- Congratulations to the Harlan Community High School dance team, which brought home two awards from the Iowa State Dance Team Association  high school state championships competition held December 5-6 in Des Moines.  The team placed third overall in the Jazz category and fifth overall in Hip Hop.
