Wolves have best W-L record since 2019, but still looking for first postseason win since 2020

MANNING – The IKM-Manning Wolves football team tied its best win total since 2019 this fall, finishing with a 6-3 record. The Wolves were competitive all season long, with several close games that could have easily turned a solid campaign into a seven- or eight-win season. The Wolves were led by a strong senior class that included Ben Ramsey, Davis Rasmussen, and Ashton Ahrenholtz—each of whom played key roles on both sides of the ball.Ramsey commanded the offense as quarterback while anchoring the defensive backfield. He ranked second in all of Class A in passing yards with 1,973, while boasting an impressive 20-to-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio. His 20 touchdown passes tied for third-most in Class A, and he completed 60% of his throws. Ramsey also added 116 rushing yards and four touch-downs on the ground. Defensively, he totaled 35 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two interceptions.Rasmussen was another two-way leader, rushing for 830 yards and 11 touchdowns, while adding 133 receiving yards and a touchdown. On defense, he was second on the team with 37 tackles and also grabbed an interception.Ahrenholtz was the Wolves’ “do-it-all” playmaker, contributing 192 rushing yards and four scores, while leading the team in receiving with 735 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he finished with 44 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two interceptions.Other seniors who made an impact included Carson Perdew, Jace Starman, and Jack Sanford. While the Wolves will have big shoes to fill with the departure of those seniors, they return several key contributors who will form a strong nucleus for 2025.Among them is junior Wyatt Danner, who was second on the team in receiving yards (524) and caught nine touchdowns. Danner also had 21.5 tackles and led the Wolves with four interceptions.Other juniors who stepped up this season were Eian Snyder, Brock Kusel, Karsyn Lorenzen, and Brennan Morris. Snyder hauled in 22 receptions for 260 yards and a touchdown. Kusel added 22 catches for 315 yards and a score, while also posting 25.5 tackles, eight tackles for loss, and one sack. Lorenzen contributed 41 carries for 191 yards and a touchdown, and on defense logged 36.5 tackles, eight tackles for loss, one sack, and two fumble recoveries. Morris made his mark defensively with 15.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, a sack, and two interceptions. Two sophomores—Kael Renze and Jonathan Rasmussen—also turned in standout seasons. Renze emerged as a force defensively, finishing third on the team in tackles (36.5), second in tackles for loss (nine), and first in sacks (six), which ranked 11th in Class A. He also contributed 60 rushing yards and a touchdown on offense.Jonathan Rasmussen provided tough yardage on offense with 172 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and defensively added 36 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack, and one fumble recovery.Although the Wolves will graduate key leaders in Ramsey, Rasmussen, and Ahrenholtz, a strong returning core has IKM-Manning in great position to build on this season’s success and push for its first playoff win since 2020.
