Wolves take down Trojans for second win of the year

The IKM-Manning varsity softball team played the Tri-Center Trojans at home Tuesday night and won 9-7 for their second win of the season against seven losses.

Sophomore Ella Richards got the ball and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.

“Ella did a nice job,” said Wolves Head Softball Coach Joy Gross. “She struggled a bit at the end, but I was proud of how she kept her composure.”

Throughout the night, the Wolves had many players on the roster contribute to the offense, including four players on the roster who had two hits each.

“Getting multiple hits from multiple players is a difference maker for us,” she said. “We are swinging at better pitches which makes a big difference.”

The Trojans came out swinging aggressively all night long, but in the end, the Wolves came away with the victory.

“Every win is something to build on,” she added. “I thought we fought hard for the win, always looking for the next play.”

The Wolves next game will be Wednesday at home as they will take on a tough opponent in the Griswold Tigers, 12-1 at 5:30 p.m.
