Wolves fall just short of Underwood sweep

IKM-M boys open district play at Ogden Monday

 UNDERWOOD (Feb. 9) -- The IKM-Manning boys nearly pulled off a season sweep of Underwood Tuesday night, falling three points short, 53-50, in its final Western Iowa Conference game of the season.
 The Eagles (9-9 overall, 7-8 WIC) led 28-22 at the half and took their largest lead of eight points in the third quarter, but IKM-M would not go away. The Wolves tied the score at 43 in the fourth and had a chance to tie it again with time winding down, but no foul was called on Connor Keller’s final three-point attempt.
 Timothy Conn paced Underwood with 18 points and Josh Ravlin added 14 off the bench. Ravlin made 4-of-6 three-pointers while Conn was 4-of-11 from long range.
 IKM-Manning was led by Keller’s four treys and 17 points and Kyler Rasmussen’s 14 points and six steals. Cooper Irlmeier added nine points and five rebounds, followed by Brody Swearingen with seven points and six boards and Drew Doyel’s three-pointer off the bench.
 The Wolves made 7-of-23 three-pointers and shot 41 percent overall while turning the ball over just seven times.
 IKM-Manning (6-12 overall) finished 4-11 in the WIC and will close out regular-season play Friday night at Boyer Valley. The Wolves will open Class 1A district play Monday with a 7:00 p.m. quarterfinal game at Ogden.

Wolves 63, Rams 49
 MANNING (Feb. 8) -- Brody Swearingen posted a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds (six offensive) and Connor Keller added 20 points, four assists and four steals Monday to lead IKM-Manning to a 63-49 win over MVAOCOU on Senior Night.
 Following a low-scoring second quarter, the Wolves led 22-21 at halftime before extending the margin to double digits with a 24-14 third-quarter advantage. They added 17 points in the fourth.
 Swearingen made 9-of-13 field goals on the night while Keller (4-of-9) and Kyler Rasmussen (4-of-8) combined to make eight 3-pointers. Rasmussen finished with 12 points and four assists.
 Also scoring for IKM-M were Cooper Irlmeier with five points, Luke Ramsey four and Caden Keller two. Ramsey added six rebounds and a team-high five assists.
 The Wolves recognized their five seniors prior to the game: Connor Keller, Drew Doyel, Kyler Rasmussen, Hayden McLaughlin and Brody Swearingen.
