IKM-Manning girls finish 7-12 overall

MANNING (Feb. 13) – IKM-Manning senior Alexa Ahrenholtz drove the length of the floor in five seconds for a layup to send the game into overtime, but the visiting East Sac County Raiders outscored the Wolves 11-6 in the extra period to take a 74-69 win in Class 2A regional girls basketball action here Saturday night.
Ahrenholtz did it all in defeat, scoring 30 points, grabbing six rebounds and tallying seven steals to bring the Wolves back from a 16-point deficit in the second half.
IKM-Manning outscored the Raiders 27-17 in the fourth quarter after trailing most of the game and battling foul trouble throughout, eventually sending four to the bench after Bianca Cadwell, Taylor Ferneding, Bre Muhlbauer and then Ahrenholtz fouled out.
Falling behind 14-9 at the first break and 23-15 at the half, the Wolves saw Raider senior Maty Quirk hit three first-half triples on her way to a stellar 27-point night.
East Sac would see its lead increase to 16 and led by 12 after the third quarter, but then the Wolves would go on a run, cutting the margin 53-51. The East Sac lead would be five at the 22-second mark.
With 14 seconds to go, down four, IKM-Manning’s Bailee Germer swished a three-pointer from the right corner - her only points on the night - to cut the Raider lead to 62-61. The Wolves fouled, East Sac made one free throw, and that set up the Ahrenholtz driving layup to send the game to overtime knotted at 63.
In overtime, the Raiders got two quick buckets, spread the floor a little and put it away at the charity stripe as the Wolves had some tough shots just not fall. East Sac would attempt 43 free throws on the night (making 27) as the Wolves were called for 33 fouls.
IKM-Manning seniors Ahrenholtz, Nicole Hanson and Muhlbauer played their last game for the Wolves Saturday night with the loss. Ahrenholtz surpassed 1,000 career points during the contest.
Joining Ahrenholtz in double figures was Cadwell with 12 points, along with two assists, seven rebounds and a steal. Hansen chipped in eight points and Muhlbauer added six rebounds.
