Wolves beat Ogden, roll into playoffs

IKM-Manning opens Class A football playoffs at South O’Brien Friday night

 OGDEN (Oct. 15) -- Cooper Irlmeier’s two fourth-quarter touchdown runs - both one-yarders - put the finishing touches on IKM-Manning’s 35-21 non-district win at Ogden last Friday.
 The Wolves finished the regular season with a 5-3 overall record and had previously clinched third place in Class A, District 8 with a mark of 4-2. They will open the Class A playoffs this Friday with a 7:00 p.m. first round game at South O’Brien (6-2) in Paullina.
 IKM-Manning trailed Ogden (4-4) by a score of 14-7 early in the second quarter before outscoring the Bulldogs 28-7 the rest of the way.
 Senior running back Amos Rasmussen had another huge night carrying the rock for the Wolves, gaining 231 yards on 23 carries. Irlmeier netted 105 yards on 21 rushes and Trey Jasa added 47 yards on six attempts. Overall, IKM-M outgained Ogden 423-310 in total offense and was able to overcome three turnovers and no takeaways.
 The Wolves allowed Ogden QB Lane Snedder to throw for 234 yards on 14-of-29 attempts, but they were tough against the run (33 carries for 76 yards). Max Nielsen led the defense with five solo tackles, five assists and three tackles for loss. Cooper Perdew added four solos and five assists.
Playoff preview
 Friday’s playoff game will feature two teams that like to run the football. South O’Brien ranks eighth in Class A with 2,232 rushing yards on 391 carries (5.7 ypc) and has scored 27 touchdowns on the ground. IKM-Manning ranks 16th with 1,886 yards on 368 carries (5.1 ypc) and has also scored 27 TDs. The Wolves hold the edge in passing yards, 631-441.
