Wolves’ comeback falls short in WIC Softball Tournament game

 UNDERWOOD (June 29) -- IKM-Manning’s seventh-inning rally fell one run short Tuesday night as the Wolves lost a 4-3 decision to Tri-Center in the first round of the Western Iowa Conference Softball Tournament.
 The ninth-seeded Wolves trailed 4-1 going into their last at-bat before scoring two runs in the top of the seventh. They dropped to 0-18 on the season.
 The eighth-seeded Trojans advanced to Tuesday night’s quarterfinal round and lost to top-seeded Underwood.
 IKM-Manning freshman Ella Richards pitched well in defeat and the Wolves played errorless defense in the field. Richards allowed eight hits and four earned runs, walked two, hit one batter and struck out one.
 Senior Zoey Melton went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBI for the Wolves. Brooke Booth was 2-for-3, Jessica Christensen doubled and scored a run and Richards and Taylor Beckendorf added singles.
