Vikings have strong night at WIC Conference Coed Track Meet

On Tuesday, the AHSTW Vikings competed in the WIC Conference Coed Track Meet. They were one of nine schools to compete in the event.

“Overall, we had a good night last night when it came to previous times,” said Vikings Boys Head Track and Field Coach Jackson Renberg. “There were many personal bests which was awesome to see.”

Renberg highlighted some athletes in the distance medley competition who had standout performances.

“The Distance Medley was our top finisher this included Nick Denning, Seth Pope, Ryan Wedemeyer and Caleb Hatch,” he said. “Caleb Hatch had a very good split as the anchor catching a few people.”

The shuttle hurdle relay team also competed strong throughout the night.

“The Shuttle Hurdle Relay team finished 5th taking a lot of time off their previous best,” he added. “This group consisted of Seth Pope, Gavin Newcomb, Nick Denning, and Aidan Martin. The group all improved their splits and have a lot of potential to compete for a spot at districts next week.”

The lady Vikings also had a strong night and performed exceptionally in multiple events.

“We had PR's in several different events,” said Vikings Girls Head Track and Field Coach Traye Pelzer. “Rylie Knop continued to run the 2 mile exceptionally well and Loralei Wahling ran a great 100 for the team.”

Pelzer is highly optimistic about future events for his team and how they’ll perform.

“We will look to build off of the momentum moving towards districts,” he added.
