Vikings finish 9th at Rollin Dyer meet

Gettler leads AHSTW wrestlers by placing third; Fischer, Pauley take 4th

 ATLANTIC (Jan. 9) -- Six out of eight AHSTW wrestlers placed in the top eight last Saturday as the Vikings finished ninth out of 16 teams at the annual Rollin Dyer Wrestling Tournament in Atlantic.
 Sergeant Bluff-Luton won a tight three-team battle for first place with 176 points, followed by New Hampton/Turkey Valley (174) and Humboldt (171). The Vikings scored 79 points in the talent-filled meet and were led by a trio of top-four placers.
 AHSTW junior Garrison Gettler placed third at 160 pounds, going 4-1 with two pins. Hayden Fischer (132) and Denver Pauley (170) both went 3-2 and placed fourth, combining for five pins. Fischer’s only two losses were by decisions of 3-1 in an overtime semifinal and 2-0 in the third-place final.
 Also for AHSTW, Quintin Martin won two matches at 220 and placed sixth, Eli Collins was sixth at 113 and Aidan Martin (3-2) placed seventh at 152.
 Derrek Kommes of Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton, who wrestles for Audubon, went 2-2 at 132 but fell just short of earning a place.
