Vikings dominate home quad vs. non-conference foes

 AVOCA (Jan. 9) -- The AHSTW wrestling team improved its dual record to 9-5 overall on Thursday night with a home quad sweep of East Mills, ACGC and Griswold.
 The Vikings opened the meet with a 52-24 win over East Mills, going 6-1 in contested matches and picking up four wins by forfeit. Leland Barr (220), Brady Canada (285) and Denver Pauley (160) all won by fall for AHSTW, Jaedan Rasmussen won a 13-2 major decision at 152 and Seth Kiesel (170) and Joel Sampson (132) both won hard-fought one-point decisions.
 In round two, the Vikings handled ACGC 50-9, going 6-2 in contested matches. AHSTW pins were recorded by Michael Shiffer at 182, Gavyn Fischer (195), Pauley (160) and Kiesel (170). Hayden Fischer won an 18-2 technical fall at 120 and Sampson won an 8-3 match at 132.
 The Vikings finished the night with a dominant 72-0 win over Griswold. Garrison Gettler (138), Rasmussen (152), Gavyn Fischer (195) and Barr (220) all picked up first-period pins and eight other Vikings won by forfeit.
