Viking boys rally past Eagles, now 11-1

 AVOCA (Jan. 16) -- The AHSTW boys rallied back from a 27-18 halftime deficit Thursday night to beat Underwood 54-48 and remain just one game behind Treynor in the Western Iowa Conference standings.
 The Vikings outscored the Eagles 17-12 in the third quarter and 19-9 in the fourth to net the comeback win, improving to 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the WIC.
 Underwood, which made just 3-of-11 free throws in the game, dropped to 5-8 overall and 2-8 in league play.
 AHSTW’s balanced scoring ledger was paced by Clayton Akers and Raydden Grobe with 10 points each and Sam Porter, Michael Mantell and Brayden Lund all with eight. Joey Cunningham added six points and Joey Goins had four.
 Mantell worked hard on the defensive glass and finished with 12 total rebounds while also blocking two shots. Porter added a team-high seven assists.
