Two Cyclones stand out at Riverside Wrestling Tournament

Cyclones head coach Adam Bendorf was pleased with his wrestlers Jesse Jens and Brody McKinley during the Riverside Wrestling Tournament Saturday.

"I thought they performed very well," Bendorf said. "Jesse is a year-round wrestler. He spends a lot of time working out at other clubs, and that obviously pays off just putting in that time. His reflexes are more tuned than they were last year. Brody, towards the end of last year started to really turn things on, and I feel like he's continued with that intensity and drive. He's becoming better at enduring the tougher parts of matches where he gets scored on and is able to bounce back a little bit better than he has in the past."

The Cyclones have a busy week ahead of them starting with a triangular Thursday at 5:30 p.m. featuring Shenandoah and Clarinda, followed by a Saturday tournament at10 a.m. at Glenwood where they will be one of 14 schools.

Bendorf talked about what's going to be key to continue to build off the success they've had moving forward.

"We'll continue working on conditioning as the year goes on," he said. "In both events, there's going to be some good teams we'll be competing against. I think the focus is just to learn everything that you can and just everything is just preparation for districts and state."
