Swanson honored as IGCA Assistant Coach of the Year

CARROLL -- Longtime Harlan Community teacher and coach Chad Swanson has been recognized as the Iowa Girls’ Coaches Association Volleyball Assistant Coach of the Year for 2016.
Swanson received a plaque commemorating the award at Saturday’s IGCA Volleyball All-Star Game in Carroll.
Swanson has been a member of the HCHS volleyball coaching staff for nearly 20 years and also served one year as head coach in 2002. He has been involved with all eight of the program’s state tournament appearances under head coaches Julie DuVal and Angie Spangenberg, including back-to-back state titles in 2013 and 2014.
Swanson is also the head boys golf coach at HCHS as well as a longtime assistant coach in boys basketball.
