Spartan girls win tough road test at Ar-We-Va

 WESTSIDE (Jan. 3) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton girls opened January with a hard-fought 47-43 win at Ar-We-Va Friday night, improving to 8-1 overall and 6-0 inside the Rolling Valley Conference.
 Sophomore forward Macy Emgarten led the 14th-rated (1A) Spartans with 16 points, seven rebounds and five steals while Quinn Grubbs, Mollie Rasmussen and Shay Burmeister scored eight points each.
 Jadeyn Smith came up big for Ar-We-Va (4-4, 4-3 RVC) with 20 points and 16 rebounds and Leslie Luft had an 11-point night.
 Exira-EHK made 18-of-52 field goals (34.6 percent), including just 5-of-23 three-pointers, and shot 6-of-14 at the free throw line.
