Spartan girls knock down first three RVC opponents

 ELK HORN (Dec. 8) -- The Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton girls basketball team is off to a 3-0 start on the season following Rolling Valley Conference wins over Glidden-Ralston, Coon Rapids-Bayard and Paton-Churdan.
 The seventh-ranked (1A) Spartans opened up with a 64-26 win at Glidden-Ralston on Tuesday, Dec. 1. Scoring leaders for E-EHK included Quinn Grubbs with 18 points, Macy Emgarten 14, Tatum Grubbs 13 and Mollie Rasmussen 12. Emgarten added 12 rebounds and the team had 21 steals (Quinn Grubbs 7, Tatum Grubbs 6).
 The Spartans played another road game last Friday (Dec. 4) and outlasted CR-B 54-46, led by 17 points from Rasmussen, 14 by Quinn Grubbs and 11 for Macy Emgarten. Shay Burmeister had eight steals to go along with four points. Rasmussen knocked down 4-of-10 three-pointers on the night and the Spartans hit eight treys as a team.
 Exira-EHK hosted Paton-Churdan for its home opener on Tuesday and won 69-31, blowing the game open with a 29-4 third quarter. The Spartans knocked down 10-of-19 three-pointers and were led by Mollie Rasmussen's 15 points, 13 each by Tatum Grubbs and Macy Emgarten and 12 for Quinn Grubbs.
