Spangenberg receives Golden Plaque of Distinction Award

 CEDAR RAPIDS -- Harlan Community volleyball coach Angie Spangenberg was honored on Friday as the 2016 volleyball recipient of the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union’s Golden Plaque of Distinction. She was presented her award prior to the Class 4-A state title match at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
 The Golden Plaque of Distinction Award honors the Iowa coach who has demonstrated a successful career while making notable contributions toward school, community and the coaching profession.
 Spangenberg, who resigned the HCHS volleyball post following the 2016 season, has coached the sport for 24 years, compiling a record of 623-162-22.
