Reloaded Cyclones complete drive for five
GUTHRIE CENTER -- Saying goodbye to a senior class featuring five all-conference players, three all-staters and a third-team All-American would be devastating for most high school volleyball programs.
For the Harlan Community Cyclones, it’s simply called the next challenge.
On Tuesday night, the two-time defending state champions clinched the program’s fifth consecutive state tournament appearance and improved to 35-5 on the year, answering every challenge from a game Bondurant-Farrar squad to win 25-14, 25-21, 25-17, in a Class 4-A regional final at Guthrie Center.
The second-ranked Cyclones, whose only five losses have come against fellow state qualifiers - three vs. top-ranked foes - will ride a 10-match winning streak into their 4-A state tourney quarterfinal with No. 10 Pella (27-10) on Tuesday, November 10. The match will start at 4:00 p.m. inside the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
