Reisz will play baseball at Doane University

HCHS Senior Weston Reisz has committed to continue his education and baseball career at Doane University in Crete, NE.
“It’s a great feeling,” Reisz said. “It’s been a lifelong dream, and I just can’t wait to get started.”
He said he was impressed with Coach Josh Oltman and his staff had to offer.
“It’s a program I wanted to be a part of,” he said.
Reisz credited his HCHS coaches, Heath Stein and Dillon Sears.
“Without those guys, I definitely would not be here today,” Reisz said. “They’ve helped me tremendously from eighth grade up until now. I appreciate everything they’ve sacrificed.”
Reisz expressed gratitude towards his parents, Kari and John.
“They mean everything to me,” he said. “I wouldn’t be here without them. I’m just very grateful my parents gave me the opportunity to come to school here in the first place.”
During his junior season of baseball for the Cyclones, Reisz pitched 33.2 innings and collected 33 strikeouts with a 3.12 earned run average. At the plate, he had a .226 batting average with 17 runs batted in, 19 hits, and scoring 17 runs in 36 games played.
Reisz is looking forward to his final season of Cyclone baseball, set to begin May 19 at home against the Sioux City North Stars.
“I’m super excited,” he said. “We have a lot of good young guys coming up, and just really hoping to make another run to state.”
