Ranniger joins IHSAA Officials Hall of Fame

 DES MOINES -- Royce Ranniger, a native of Manning, was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s 2020 Officials Hall of Fame for boys basketball during halftime of the Class 2A state championship game on Friday, March 13, at Wells Fargo Arena.
 Ranniger began officiating while he was a student at Briar Cliff and has been registered with the IHSAA for 39 years. He has worked football (16 postseasons, five championships) and basketball (16 state tournaments) while also excelling for the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. Ranniger was named the state’s boys basketball official of the year in 2008 and girls basketball official of the year in 2014. He was also named the NFHS Section 4 Distinguished Active Official in 2015 and has worked NAIA basketball postseasons at the collegiate level. Ranniger and his wife Kathy live in Sioux City and have two sons and grandchildren.
