Pettepier’s record night leads Spartans over P-C

Sophomore Josh breaks senior brother Noah’s school mark by hitting 10-of-11 three-point shots

ELK HORN -- The three-point shooting numbers told the story in Tuesday night’s Rolling Valley Conference basketball opener between Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton and Paton-Churdan.
Exira-EHK sophomore Josh Pettepier knocked down eight straight treys in the first half alone and finished 10-of-11 from behind the arc. Paton-Churdan, by contrast, shot 1-of-11 as a team from three-point range.
The result was a 61-41 home win for the Spartans, keyed by a 25-6 second quarter spurt and Pettepier’s red-hot, record-breaking night.
Josh finished with a career-high 34 points and broke his older brother Noah’s Exira-EHK school record of six 3s in one game, set just last year. Noah Pettepier added nine points and five steals in the victory while Drew Buckholdt scored six points.
The Spartans led 44-17 at the half and extended their advantage to 35 points in the second half before P-C was able to creep closer down the stretch.
