Osborn leads charge of local talent at Wayne State

WAYNE, NEB. -- Wayne State College has become the new it place for former area athletes to continue their football and academic endeavors.
The NCAA Division II program featured five area high school graduates on the football roster this fall, including fifth-year junior quarterback Zach Osborn from Harlan Community, who surpassed 8,000 career passing yards.
Cody Eischeid and Sam Wegner, both 2015 IKM-Manning grads, competed as redshirt freshmen this fall while true freshman Ethan Knudson (HCHS) was the team’s placekicker. Brady Hansen (Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton class of 2016) sat out as a redshirt.
The Wildcats finished 3-8 overall and went 2-5 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, tying for fifth place in the league’s South Division. It was the program’s fourth straight losing season. Four of the team’s eight losses were decided by less than two touchdowns and two more defeats came against nationally-ranked Bemidji State (#24) and Sioux Falls (#4).
