Middle school, youth sports on hold

STATE (Nov. 16) -- As part of Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds’ new Public Health Disaster proclamation on Monday night, all organized youth and adult sports activities of any size have been suspended until at least 11:59 p.m. on December 10. This includes basketball, wrestling, gymnastics, swimming, dance, and group fitness classes at gyms.
All middle school/junior high sports across the state will not be holding practices or games until December 11. While high school sports and extracurricular activities are not prohibited, spectators at games or events are limited to two per student and are required to wear a mask.
The governor’s proclamation also imposed a number of additional public health measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
