Lady Vikes finish WIC play with two home wins

 AVOCA (Oct. 5) -- The AHSTW volleyball team closed out regular-season play with a pair of Western Iowa Conference home wins earlier this week, rallying past Logan-Magnolia in five Monday night and sweeping Audubon 3-0 on Tuesday.
 The Lady Vikes’ second and third straight WIC wins improved their record to 23-7 overall and 4-4 in league play going into the WIC Tournament (Oct. 11-12, 14).
 AHSTW had to scramble against Lo-Ma (9-12, 0-7) on Monday, dropping the first two sets 21-25, 20-25 before winning the next three 25-9, 25-12, 15-13.
 Three Lady Vikes reached double-digit kills in the match. Natalie Hagadon had 20 kills and a .260 efficiency, followed by Halle Hall with 13 kills (.214) and setter Ally Meyers with 10 (.500). Meyers also had 35 assists and eight digs.
 Grace Porter was the team dig leader with 18, Hagadon had 15 digs and Megan Wise, Hall, Meyers, Darian Hansen and Liz Cordes all added at least seven. Delaney Goshorn led the way with five blocks and Cordes had two solo stuffs.
 AHSTW served 12 aces, including five by Wise (16-of-21), four by Hagadon (23-of-26) and two by Hansen (8-of-11). Hall served 17-of-17 with one ace and Porter was 18-of-18.
 The Lady Vikes had a much easier time against the Wheelers (8-12, 0-7 WIC) on Senior Night, sweeping the visitors 25-9, 25-12, 25-15.
 Hall (.303) and Hagadon (.259) both spiked 12 kills to lead the hitting attack, Meyers set 27 assists, and Porter and Hagadon both made 15 digs. Porter, a junior, surpassed 500 career digs during the match.
 Wise led an effective 93.1 percent serving attack with a 22-for-24 night and six aces. Hagadon (17-for-19) had two aces and Hansen (6-for-6) added one.
 Prior to the match, the Lady Vikes honored their eight seniors in Cordes, Ashtyn McCarthy, Hansen, Meyers, Wise, Hall, Hagadon and Maddie True.
