Lady Vikes cap perfect week with win over T-C

 AVOCA (June 11) -- The AHSTW softball team capped a 4-0 week on the diamond with Friday night’s hard-fought 4-3 win over Tri-Center.
 The Lady Vikes improved to 10-6 overall and 8-2 in the Western Iowa Conference, putting them in third place behind Underwood (8-0) and Logan-Magnolia (7-1). The Lady Vikes handed Lo-Ma its first WIC loss on June 7.
 Most of Friday’s scoring occurred in the first inning when AHSTW answered the Trojans’ quick two-spot with three runs in the bottom of the frame.
 AHSTW’s rally began with a couple of errors and included an RBI single by Kailey Jones, a double by Natalie Hagadon and a two-run double from Sienna Christian.
 After T-C tied things up with a run in the top of the fifth, the Lady Vikes once again countered right away as Christian delivered her third RBI of the night. She finished 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
 AHSTW junior pitcher Ally Meyers worked all seven innings for the win, allowing eight hits and two earned runs with no walks and one strikeout.
 Lady Vike sophomore Grace Porter went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored. Meyers and Graycen Partlow both had two-hit games as well.
 Tri-Center, which got an early home run from Mikenzie Brewer, dropped to 3-10 overall and 2-7 in the WIC.
 AHSTW played at Riverside Monday night (June 14) and will host Treynor on Tuesday, then play at fifth-ranked (2A) Underwood Thursday in hopes of avenging a 10-0 loss from June 1.

AHSTW 8, Audubon 4
 AUDUBON (June 10) -- The Lady Vikes opened Thursday’s game with four runs in the top of the first, then added single tallies in the final four frames and held off a late Audubon rally to beat the Wheelers 8-4.
 The contest featured eight total errors, including five made by AHSTW.
 Senior Kailey Jones, who took a shutout into the sixth, went the distance in the pitching circle and improved her personal record to 6-1. Jones allowed seven hits and just one earned run, walked none and struck out three. She has issued just one walk in 42 and one-third innings this season.
 Freshman Graycen Partlow led AHSTW’s 13-hit attack at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
 Grace Porter hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs while Ally Meyers and Natalie Hagadon (3 runs) both went 2-for-4. Also adding singles were Jones (2 RBI), Darian Hansen, Loralei Wahling and Rylie Knop.
 Sydney Beymer drove in two runs for Audubon, which had seven different girls hit a single.
