Knudson, Wingert lead HCHS to second at Mount Ayr

MOUNT AYR -- Harlan Community wrestlers Austin Knudson and Jacob Wingert were both named to the All-Tournament Team and two other Cyclones also finished with unbeaten records as HCHS placed second out of nine teams in the Ron Scott Memorial Dual Tournament, held January 15-16 at Mount Ayr.
Shenandoah won the team championship with an 8-0 record, followed by HCHS (7-1), Lathrop, Missouri (6-2) and Riverside (5-3).
The Cyclones beat Shenandoah 57-19 earlier in the week, but the Mustangs won Saturday’s rematch 43-33 during round six of the meet. HCHS won most of its other duals by a wide margin, outside of a 42-38 win over Lathrop and a 45-33 decision over Riverside.
Quoting Harry Truman, Cyclone coach John Murtaugh said, “The buck stops here,” in assuming responsibility for the loss to Shenandoah.
