Kasperbauer-Schumacher batteries outlast D-S

HARLAN (June 14) -- It’s a mouthful to say, and it was a handful for the Denison-Schleswig softball and baseball teams Tuesday at JJ Jensen Park.
Harlan Community defeated the Monarch softball team 11-1 in six innings late Tuesday afternoon, followed by the HCHS baseball team scoring a 12-2 five-inning victory. In both cases, the Cyclone battery consisted of a Kasperbauer pitcher and a Schumacher catcher.
Throwing to senior Madison Schumacher, HCHS junior Tianna Kasperbauer fired a six-inning two-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the softball game. In the baseball game, HCHS sophomore Teagon Kasperbauer pitched to junior Austin Schumacher and allowed just three hits and one earned run in five.
Tianna and Teagon are the children of Ryan and Toshia Kasperbauer while Madison and Austin are the children of Dan and Sarah Schumacher. Toshia Kasperbauer is also the Cyclones’ head softball coach.
