IKM-Manning’s Dreyer runs for two golds in early bird meet

LAKE CITY (March 29) -- Quentin Dreyer’s sweep of the 3,200 and 1,600-meter runs accounted for half of IKM-Manning’s four gold medals here Monday night as the Wolves opened the season at South Central Calhoun’s Chelsey Henkenius Co-Ed Early Bird Track Meet.
Dreyer clocked a winning time of 11:21.2 in the 3,200 and later won the mile in 5:11.2. He also placed second in the open 800.
The IKM-M boys got a third gold in the 400 hurdles as Liam Carter paced the field in 59.14 seconds.
The IKM-M girls’ lone first-place finish came in the distance medley relay as Maddie Snyder, Amber Halbur, Alexa Ahrenholtz and Bianca Cadwell joined forces for a time of 4:55.79. The same quartet placed second in the sprint medley relay to start off the meet.
Ahrenholtz, meanwhile, cleared the five-foot mark in the high jump for another second-place medal and took third in the 100 dash.
Additional second-place finishes for the IKM-M boys included Drew Doyel in the long jump, Lane Sams in the 1,600, Carter in the 110 high hurdles and the 4x800 relay team of Luke Ramsey, Hunter Smith, Reed Hinners and Sams.
Amos Rasmussen placed third in both the 100 and 200.
Both Wolves’ teams will return to action on Tuesday (April 6) - the girls competing at Riverside (Oakland) and the boys heading to the Jerome Howe Relays in Treynor.
