Herbst runs wild as Vikings avenge IKM-Manning

Quarterback rushes for nearly 250 yards, scores four touchdowns in AHSTW’s 34-21 Homecoming win over Wolves

AVOCA -- Facing last year’s district champion on Homecoming night wasn’t ideal, admits AHSTW head football coach Davis Pattee.
Distractions aside, however, the Vikings took advantage of an opportunity in front of them Friday night, avenging last season’s only district loss with an impressive 34-21 win over IKM-Manning.
Senior quarterback Nathan Herbst ran for nearly 250 yards and four touchdowns and added a scoring pass for good measure as AHSTW more than doubled the Wolves in total offense and never trailed while overcoming three turnovers and nine penalties.
Seniors Dustin Engel (85) and Terry Shannon (60) netted another 145 rushing yards for the Vikings, who finished with 529 total yards compared to 252 for IKM-M.
Last year, a senior-laden Wolves’ team dominated the Vikings, 42-9, in Manning - a game that 13 current AHSTW seniors hadn’t forgotten.
