HCMS charging admission for basketball, wrestling

 HARLAN -- Starting with the current 2016-17 season, Harlan Community Middle School will be charging admission to all home basketball games and wrestling meets for 7th and 8th grade. The cost will be $3 for adults and $2 for students in order to offset officiating expenses of $4,000.
 HCMS has been charging admission to football games and track meets for three years and will add volleyball to the list next fall.
 According to HCS Activities Director Mitch Osborn, eight out of 11 Hawkeye Ten Conference schools currently charge admission to middle school events. The list includes: Creston, Denison, Glenwood, HCMS, Lewis Central, Red Oak, Shenandoah and St. Albert. Council Bluffs Wilson Middle School also charges admission.
