HCHS girls put away Monarchs in 2nd half

HARLAN -- Taylor Frederick and Jordyn Moser combined to score 42 points Tuesday night as the Harlan Community girls basketball team overcame a sluggish start to beat Denison-Schleswig, 65-43, in Hawkeye Ten Conference play.
The top-ranked (Class 4-A) Cyclones led by 30 points before D-S closed the gap in the final three minutes.
Frederick led HCHS with 23 points and 11 rebounds (adding three steals and three blocks) while Moser had 19 points, seven boards, seven assists and six steals.
The Cyclones, who also beat Denison 50-22 last month, led just 11-5 after the first quarter and 27-15 at halftime. They increased the lead to 17 points after three, improving to 14-1 overall and 8-0 in conference games.
Denison, led by Jacque Ingram’s 11 points and 10 boards, dropped to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the league.
