HCHS Boys Varsity Golf takes ninth at Trojan Invitational

On Tuesday, the HCHS boys varsity golf team placed ninth in the Trojan Invitational with a total of 361 strokes.

“I thought the team as a whole did a good job limiting penalty strokes today,” said HCHS Head Golf Coach Chad Swanson. “Atlantic Country Club is a tight course and we kept the ball in play and avoided going deep on these greens that are often tucked into boundaries.”

Swanson did highlight players on his roster that stood out throughout the course of competition.

“We had five golfers score between 89 and 92 today so that shows good balance,” he said. “Sam Bladt had his best 18 hole outing with a solid 89.”

Swanson also acknowledged how his team is coming along.

“I do like the progress each is making in their games and in their understanding of the game,” he added.

Their next match will take place on Monday at 9 a.m. at the Hawkeye 10 at the Red Oak Country Club in which 11 teams will be competing.
