HCHS baseball team wins at ADM, Le Mars

 LE MARS (July 9) -- The Harlan Community baseball team finished last week with a pair of road wins to get back to the .500 mark, winning 11-2 at ADM Wednesday night and 5-2 at Le Mars on Friday.
 The Cyclones improved to 14-14 overall going into Tuesday’s game at Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln and Wednesday’s regular season finale at Thomas Jefferson. They will open Class 3A Substate play Friday with a 7 p.m. quarterfinal game at Glenwood.
HCHS 11, ADM 2
 ADEL -- HCHS pulled away by scoring four runs each in the second and sixth innings and outhit the Tigers 9-2.
 Isaiah Ahrenholtz led the Cyclones at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Cade Sears was also 2-for-4 and drove in a pair while Luke Musich (1-for-3), Kelby Lasher (1-for-3) and Quinn Koesters scored two runs each. Alex Monson singled, stole two bases and had two RBI.
 Freshman Franz Reisz was the winning pitcher, allowing two hits and one earned run in six innings. He walked two and struck out three. Stephen Leinen pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning of relief.
HCHS 5, Le Mars 2
 LE MARS -- Alex Monson pitched a complete game for HCHS in just 75 pitches Friday as the Cyclones defeated a 19-13 Bulldogs team 5-2.
 Monson allowed seven hits and two unearned runs on the night, issuing no walks while striking out five.
 The Cyclones finished with seven singles offensively, led by Monson (2-for-2, one RBI) and Cade Sears (2-for-3, one RBI). Leadoff batter Joey Moser singled, walked twice, stole two bases and scored three runs. Isaiah Ahrenholtz (two RBI) and Quinn Koesters were both 1-for-3.
