Goshorn commits to Kansas State for rowing
AHSTW Senior Delaney Goshorn will be rowing for Kansas State University following the conclusion of her high school days.
“I’m really excited,” Goshorn said. “I never thought I’d have the opportunity to play sports at the D1 level. I fell in love with the campus and I was content with not continuing my academic career, but the opportunity arose and how couldn’t I take it?”
With many choices in front of her, Goshorn talked about what led to her choosing Kansas State, where she will be majoring in Agricultural Business while minoring in Animal Science.
“You feel like everyone there wants to know you and wants to know your name,” she said. “They just really care for you and want you to be happy there, so I’m just really excited.”
Goshorn gave credit to her family for how much they’ve helped her along the way, and pushed her to be a better athlete and person.
“I’m so thankful for them and all they’ve done to build me into the athlete that I am, taking me to practices two hours away for different sports, and waking me up at 6:30 in the morning to go to weights,” she added. “They really pushed me to take this leap of faith and they really said why not take the opportunity.”
During her high school days, Goshorn was a multi-sport athlete being a part of the volleyball, basketball, and track & field team.
During her senior season, Goshorn led the volleyball team with 242 kills and 50 blocks. She led the basketball team with 282 points, averaging 13.4 per game, along with 121 rebounds, and 62 assists, including scoring her 1,000th career point for the Vikings in a game at home Feb. 8 against Denison.
In track and field, while the season has not yet concluded, she currently holds the fastest 200m dash time with 27.86, along with the fastest 4x100, 4x200, 4x400, and 4x800 relay teams with times of 53.66, 1:51.68, 4:22.87, and 10:05.10.
“If you work hard, you’ll be able to achieve your goals and knowing to trust your teammates and coaches because they always want what’s best for you,” Goshorn said.
