Girls Tennis drops match to Lewis Central

On Monday night, The HCHS girls varsity tennis team lost 9-0 to the Lewis Central Titans.

“It was an extremely hot and windy night, and both of those elements really challenged our girls,” said HCHS Head Tennis Coach Katie Arentson. “The girls did eventually adapt to the elements, but it made play quite tricky for a while.”

Throughout the night, the girls played hard competitively, but unfortunately things did not go their way.

“Our girls played well at the top and each player did take away at least some points in the match, but we just could not gain enough momentum to come up with a win overall,” she said.

The Cyclones had a scary moment when one of their players had to take an early exit. Due to her leaving early, it required another player on the roster to step up and take on a different role.

“The heat was intense, and our number six player Sydney Jones had to pull out of her singles match due to medical reasons,” she added. “Thankfully she was all right, but we decided to make a substitution then for doubles and Mallory Mulligan stepped up and filled in for the number three doubles position.”

With this loss, it pushed their overall record to 2-5-1.
