Freund, Schwery lead Cyclones to fourth at T-C Invite

 NEOLA (Jan. 9) -- Luke Freund and Jesse Schwery both won individual championships and Zane Bendorf placed second last Saturday to lead Harlan Community to fourth place in the team standings of the Tri-Center Wrestling Invite.
 HCHS had 10 out of 12 wrestlers place in the top eight (seven in the top four) and scored 138 points - just one behind West Monona for third. Missouri Valley and Platteview tied for the team title with 181.5.
 Freund won the 113-pound championship with two first-period pins and a 5-0 win over St. Albert’s Zach Williams in the finals.
 Jesse Schwery, meanwhile, dominated at 195, pinning all three of his opponents in the first or second period.
 Bendorf impressed at 170, winning by pin and major decision before losing 9-4 in the finals against fifth-ranked (1A) Cael McLaren of St. Albert.
 Dalton McKinley placed third at 145 for HCHS, going 2-1, while Matt Schwery (182), Jeremiah Davis (220) and Austin Schumacher (285) all placed fourth.
 The Cyclones were slated to host Greene County for a dual on Tuesday, but the meet was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns within the Rams’ program.
