FIVE ALIVE Trend continues as Cyclones advance five to district meet

HCHS places second at Sectional, earning Tuesday trip to regional duals

HARLAN -- For the seventh year in a row, Harlan Community advanced exactly five wrestlers from sectionals to districts on Saturday, also qualifying for regional duals as a team after placing second in the Class 2-A, Sectional 3 Tournament at Glenwood.
HCHS freshman Ronan Noeth earned a sectional championship at 106 pounds while teammates Brandon Trevino (120), Austin Knudson (126), Elias Shaeffer (132) and Jacob Wingert (160) each placed second in their bracket. All five Cyclones will now compete in Saturday’s Class 2-A, District 2 Tournament at Atlantic, starting at noon.
Based on Saturday’s second-place team finish, HCHS will also be competing in Tuesday’s 6:00 p.m. regional dual meet at Sergeant Bluff. The unranked Cyclones will face No. 5 Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the semifinal round, with the winner facing either No. 17 Spirit Lake-Park or MOC-Floyd Valley for a berth in the state dual tournament.
It marks the first time in six years that HCHS has qualified for the regional duals.
